I should add that the Coastal route from San Diego to LA can at times be spectacular. This stretch through Del Mar is nothing to sneeze at!
I've heard of people missing their connection to this line due to earlier train delays and Amtrak just sticking them on a bus as if the point of this ride is to get from Point A to Point B.
