Texel and Vlieland are two of the Dutch so called Waddeneilanden.
They lie in the north of Holland more or less in the Northsea and are only reachable by ferries.
Both of them are rather uninhabited and unspoiled, especially Vlieland.
Due to these conditions they are very attractive for birds and seals. And for tourists!

The beaches are quite clean, yellow-whitish and huge.
The sand plate at the west of Vlieland is the largest in Northern Europe and is deserted.
In fact the Lonely Planet recently assigned Texel recently as one of the top 10 destinations in Europe.
The inhabitants are not sure weather this is a blessing or a curse.
