Maasvlakte 2

Rotterdam harbor, lying at the Northsea, is the biggest of Europe.
In order the stay competitive, the so called Maasvlakte 2 was designed and built and is now nearly finished.
In fact it is an extension bringing the coastline about 2 kilometers seawards over an about 8 kilomters wall of sand.
This sand was taken from the Norhsea bottom and this way an large front of dunes and new beach was created.

Behind this "sand wall" a brandnew harbor is now ready for use; giving space to the largest (container)ships in the world.
In order to empty and reload this ships giant cranes are (being) developed; the biggest in the world in fact in it's kind.
The whole loading process is practically 100% automatic and ICT driven.
