Adults have white heads (with dark streak through the eyes) and dark backs and tails. Males have all white chests while females have a kind of "necklace" of dark streaking.

Ospreys are monogamous. They breed once a year (2-4 eggs) and the young stay in the nest from 45-60 days. The male brings the female all her food during breeding.
