From Muerren, I took a gondola to the summit of the Schilthorn (elevation 10,000 feet), the mountain on which Muerren sits. As had been the case the day I went up the Klein Matterhorn, it was a clear day. As with the Klein Matterhorn, I soon discovered that the only cloud in the valley was firmly attached to the summit of the mountain on which I was standing. I stayed up there for several hours, catching occasional glimpses of the valleys far below. Unfortunately, the clouds never broke around me.
