Catedral, Santiago de Compostela 1

Santiago de Compostela, La Coruña, Spain

In this picture you can see the towers of the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. The name
Santiago refers to St. James the Apostle. “Sant” like saint and “iago” like the Latin for James.
Compostela relates to the story of how the remains of St. James were found. If I rember
correctly Compostela means “of the star” stela being like the Spanish word “estrella.” During
our tour of this city we were told that a star was seen above the city. When the people looked
under the star they found the remains of three people. It is believed that these are the remains of
St. James the Apostle and his two traveling companions.
