Very unusual to see a Gannet over Duxbury Bay. I took this long shot from the Beach of the bird flying southwest away from me. This individual had worked up the bay (northward)until reaching the Powder Point Bridge and then, seeing that the water was ending, turned and retraced its path heading back southwest toward Plymouth. Why it didn't look to its right (east) and just zoom over the narrow beach to the open water is a mystery - especially for a bird that can fly so fast! I've seen this retracing happen a couple of times in the past and never have figured it out.
