Originally built in 1389 and had been renovated multiple times since, this red two-storey structure was once the East Gate of the old Jianshui Town.
While other gates had been torn down by war or nature, Chaoyanglou still stands proudly as a landmark in the centre of the town.
Today, Chaoyanglou is primarily a gathering place for elderly people and hawkers.
