The subject is sharp, with strong feather detail well in focus. While the ripples in the water add interest, the deep depth of field and brighter background pulls the
eye away from the subject and out of the frame rather than keeping the viewer engaged. Darkening the surrounding background, slightly reducing saturation,
and brightening the plover would help bring the subject forward and hold the viewer’s attention. Cropping about half of the lower frame would
remove the small distracting element at the bottom left and place the eye closer to the upper third, strengthening the composition.
