Mucky Duck

Tuesday 18th January 2005 - Day 31

Yes I know it is a Mute Swan.... In some parts of the country, a cygnet is known as a "Mucky Duck" I was reminded of this today when I was walking over a foot bridge, looked down and saw this swan swimming around on his patch of river. The river is heavily coloured by run-off from the fields, hence the brown look. Even though the swan has been somewhat affected by the dirt, the natural beauty of these birds still shows through.

I'm off to my Yoga class this evening - its the first day back after the christmas break for the class, so I am looking forward to some intense relaxation :)

PS - curves, slight bit of diffuse glow, cropping and framing

other sizes: small medium large auto

i love swans. but they are aggressive birds. i heard on the news that come this spring...they are going to round them up and kill a lot of them.

can you bend yourself into all types of directions? That is what I always see when they do yoga. Enjoy! I like this swan, because you captured him from a different pose then what I usually see. I do not understand quite how those curves are used and what they exactly do, maybe if you wont mind you could explain it to me?

Wow how does it stay so white :) But then again that neck could use a washing. Nice composition, Lee
