Yashica bought the Tomioka optics factory.
Contax/Yashica lenses were made there under contract with Zeiss.
Before then, Tomioka had made lenses for Sears and others. You can often find a Tomioka 55mm f1.4 on ebay for pocket change, because it has a name like Sears, Revuenon, Chinon, Rikenon, Yashinon. The f1.4 I tried was too long. It hit the Sigma SD14 ir-dust filter. A Yashinon Tomioka 55mm f1.2(f1.2!!!) works.
On ebay you will find Porst lenses called Tomioka, but I don't see any resemblance. The Porst 55mm f1.2 does resemble a Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 50mm f1.8 on the front outside of the barrel.
Yashinon Tomioka 55mm f1.2 is the best build quality of Tomioka 55mm. It's possible another might have later coatings. They ought to be the same optically. All 55's have the sliced off rear glass which is responsible for a different kind of bokeh.
