Stream Cruiser (Didymops transversa)

This is the smaller of the two common cruiser species. It prefers small sandy forest streams and occasionally shorelines of large lakes. Overall they have a dull reddish-brown body with pale yellowish abdominal top spots, and males show a medium-sized club with yellow claspers. Both sexes show the distinctive yellow face stripe and single yellow thoracic side stripe. The Illinois River Cruiser is larger and black, not brown.
