David Woodworth Fox b.1845-d.1923
David Woodworth Fox was born in the Montgomery Township 2/20/1845. Until he was 21, he went to schools in the township, including the neighboring Camp Spring School and a log cabin school at Governor French's home. This log cabin school was heated by a large fireplace. The teacher was Sarah Crews, who was only one year older than David. She later became his siter-in-law. (Each day the teacher would cook hot food in the fireplace for the students)
David remained on the farm until he was 24, when he married Eliza Jane Crews. Her parents gave them the brick home they had occupied all of their life moving into a small house. Eliza's father had made the bricks for the house that was built around 1830. The house was built with "bible" doors and an "Indian Catcher" staircase.
David built a big barn on the farm in1874. They still stand today (1998)David's youngest son David Leroy "Roy" and his wife Pauline lived there for many years and now David's great grandon owns the home (as of 1998 anyway) The 390 acre farm is rented out and has been home to several Fox families.
David was a farmer all of his life, as were his sons. He was a democrat, a devote christian, a member of the methodist church and is remembered for his hard work and good heart.
