Moonlight and Milky Way Over Cochiguaz

Cochiguaz, Chile

Moonrise over Cochiguaz Valley (Valle de Elqui), Chile

Several world class observatories very nearby. I´m still traveling (without a computer) so this image is basically straight out of the camera… a bit of contrast, resize and no PS ¨funny business¨ at all… the skies were just that amazing.

Sam -- the advantages of very dry thin air. Amazingly it's not just less light pollution, the stars are actually brighter by about a stop then when I've shot them in "dark skies" in the east coast. I was able to walk around by the light of the MW and stars with the 1/2 moon no where near rising!

Er, so "low" on the horizon....

Cool capture, Pablo. Lol on your PS funny business remark. Amazing to see so many stars so on the horizon.
