La Mision San Francisco De Asis

San Francisco

A beautiful sight as the sun rose, it was not easy to get a
shot of the front of the mission without any cars in front of
it, as this was a rather busy spot in San Francisco! This is
well after the sun had risen, but hey, no cars! LOL

The three bells in front here were crafted in Mexico & created
in honour of Saint Joseph, Saint Fancis & Saint Martin.

The building it's self is the oldest intact Mission, having
been built in 1791. The adobe walls are 4' thick & run 114'
long by 22' wide. Although it has been repainted inside, the
designs are those of the original Ohlone Indian artists & true
to form, the dyes used as paints are from vegetables.

The cemetary is to the left & I'm not sure, but things seemed
a bit "off" to me as to the way the headstones were set; (best
to ask David about that one ~ rather odd story/facts about the
Mission & it's graveyard.) I got some good shots there ;^P
yard...
