Four days into the Stubai Route and our weather streak broke. It was only Tuesday and the rain was predicted to last until Sunday, so we conceded defeat to Mother Nature. We had an easy hike down from Nuernburger Hut to the bus stop at Ranalt (the hut website listed the descent as 1.5 hours to the farm Bsuchsalm and another half hour to the road). On the bus ride back to Innsbruck we decided we would return to the Dolomites in search of better weather. And at the very least the extensive lifts and buses would make it easier for us to slip in some hikes when the weather allowed.

It's too bad rain drove us from the Stubai Route, but I'm glad we at least got a taste of these dramatic Austrian mountains. We will have to return for some unfinished business!
