Today was an intense hike and probably one of the longest/hardest hiking days I've done. The statistics aren't that daunting; it's 9km/5.6 miles and about 900m/2953 ft ascent and 800m/2625 ft descent. Short mileage, but the book time is listed as 7-8 hours. Why? The trail is constantly going up and down (so much that I had a hard time reconstructing the hike - it all blurs together) and there are extended sections of via ferrata on "scrappy" trail that require a lot of care and vigilance. But the good news is that the views are stunning every step of the way and it is ultimately a very rewarding hike.
Bremer Hut is not as accessible as some of the other huts and as a consequence is more of a true "hikers hut". It is in a beautiful setting with friendly people and we very much enjoyed our night here.
