Norah and I had one more stop before heading to Gordon. We enjoyed the hospitality of Peggy and Dennis - as well as a lot of great family genealogy info - and stayed two nights in Omaha. We caught up with friends, visited the Henry Doorly Zoo (terrific zoo!), and made a quick visit to the Durham Museum (nicely done - a lot of neat history about Omaha). This stay concluded another leg of our journey - the next few weeks we would spend in Gordon with my parents relaxing, visiting, and doing important things like catching up on books and Veronica Mars. We had a nice drive to Gordon on Highway 20 - great clouds! I always love the skies back home. Other signs that tell me I'm home: Runzas and Twin Bings. Of course I had to indulge.
While at home we went to Chadron for Fur Trade Days (you are never too old to pick up some candy at a parade!), visited with friends, played with the cats (we were in Gordon last summer when Freya and Maisie came home as kittens, so it was fun to see them a year later), and saw several shows at the Playhouse at Fort Robinson. In between shows we had dinner at the lodge and went for a drive. We watched a storm roll in and the views were incredible. We later learned that a tornado touched down 40 miles away in Harrison. Luckily we were in the clear and got to enjoy the show with no worries.
