Our main activity today was a tour of Lower Antelope Canyon. I had visited Antelope Canyon twelve years ago and it has definitely changed since then - its popularity has grown and the tours are much more regimented and frequent. I wasn’t sure what the experience would be like, but it turned out to be okay. We got lucky that our tour was just us and another family, so it was a small tour. We kept moving through the canyon, yet I never felt rushed and had time to take lots of pictures. What hasn’t changed is the beauty of this stunning slot canyon. The sunset array of vivid colors, the gorgeous sandstone swirls, rounding a bend to find the perfect slice of reflected glowing light - it was a beautiful walk through the sandstone. I’m glad Daniela got to experience a slot canyon - this was definitely a highlight for her!
After our tour we drove down to the marina to check out Lake Powell, had lunch at the BirdHouse, made the short walk to Horseshoe Bend, saw another view of Lake Powell from Wahweap Overlook, and finished off the day with dinner and drinks at the Dam Bar & Grille.
