An antique, 19th Century tsakli painting depicting a 'mandala' centred around the green bodied tutelary deity the Buddha Shikhin, who like all the buddhas, is a Buddha from a past epoch, his left hand in meditation or samadhi mudra, his right hand in vitarka mudra, the mudra of victorious argument. He is seated on his lotus throne in yabyum with his Sakti, representing the union of Wisdom and Compassion. His hair is knotted in the Jatamukuta style behind a golden crown, wearing along red celestial scarf which hangs down. In the 4 corners of the mandala sit offering gods and goddesses, each on his or her own lotus throne. An obscured Terma syllable to the reverse.10.2 x 12.8cm
