An antique, 19th Century tsakli painting depicting a 'mandala' centred around the blue bodied tutelary deity the Buddha Krakuchanda, holding a fold of his monastic robes in his right hand, a Buddha from a past epoch, his left hand in meditation or samadhi mudra. He is seated on his lotus throne in yabyum with his Sakti, representing the union of Wisdom and Compassion. His hair is knotted in the Jatamukuta style behind a golden crown, wearing a long red celestial scarf which hangs down. In the 4 corners of the mandala sit offering gods and goddesses, each on his or her own lotus throne. An obscured Terma syllable to the reverse.10.2 x 12.9cm
