sl1600.285.jpg

An antique tsakli painting, Tibet, 19th Century or earlier depicting, within a glorious red orb and a pink mandorla, a seated blue bodied deity (Akshobya?) in yabyum with his white-skinned Sakti. His hair is piled high in a gold bound chignon, a gold diadem above his forehead. He gazes somewhat impassively at the viewer, his hands in the mudra of meditation. His Sakti is naked above the waist and wears a red dhoti below. She wears a gold diadem and jewellery, her left hand holding a skull cup filled with gold matter. The deity wears gold bodhisattva ornaments, a green mantle around his shoulders which terminates in 2 flowing, scrolling points to either side of his pink and saffron dhoti as they sit upon a delicate pink lotus above a slightly curved throne with a blue and saffron banner in the foreground. An erased 'Terma' inscription to the reverse. 10 x 13cm

other sizes: small medium large original auto
