26th January 2018

I'm a bit nervous this evening.
Tomorrow we're going to bring home our new family member - a young crossbreed whom we're adopting.
I'm worried he'll be very confused by being in new surroundings and will take a while to settle in.
Any tips from experienced adopters on how to reassure him and help him feel welcome? :-)

Photo from a few days ago - I think these sheep thought we were bringing food for them.
I hope they weren't too disappointed!

They do look hopeful Ev! Good luck with your new set of paws!

That sheep looks friendly enough and they are always on the lookout for handouts. Give your new family member some time to sniff around and then some treats. V

LOL @ Zak.

Lot's of love and encouragement and your new pal will be fine.

A nice picture. Lots of treats may help adjustment.

The sheep look anxious, just like you! I think you should just take it easy and watch for the cues from the dog. Some animals want to hide in that situation, and you can let him hide and reassure him later, with some food after he gets hungry. Or, he might just go berserk and run around exploring. It will come naturally, not your first rodeo. :)

I love any photo with sheep. Just have your dog feel secure and all will be well.

Johnnyjag would be the best to ask if it's a crossbreed sheep you're getting ;-)
