Fascinating gallery. I'd love to go somewhere like this by my wife has a policy of never going on holiday anywhere colder than where we live. That was ok when we were in Scotland but a bit difficult now we're in Singapore ...

Thanks for your nice comments!

The scenery in Greenland was spectacular, especially the icebergs.
I was using a digital point-and-shoot (Canon G3) with a 4x zoom
covering ~35-140mm (in 35mm equivalent). You can see all the exposure
data ("exif") below each photo. I mostly shot in auto "Program"
mode; an exception is the aurorahttp://www.pbase.com/image/27613117,
which I set manually to 2 seconds and maybe higher "ISO" speed
(hard to shoot a sharp 2 seconds with no tripod and from a ship!).

It wasn't all that cold, just around freezing. I'd keep the camera
under my jacket when I wasn't shooting to help keep the battery warm.

Amazing photos. I'll be on the trip next month, and must say that your pix have really got me excited!

I'm about as amateur a photographer possible, and am hoping you can share a little advice with me. I have an old school 35mm auto Pentax, and am wondering how the cold will affect it and battery life. What film did you use? F stops & exposures for aurora borealis? icebergs? sunsets? I'd be so happy if my pix could come out at all like yours.

Thanks for any insight you can lend!
