The famous Helix Nebula is is one of the largest in apparent size and closet to Earth planetary nebulae. Distance to Helix is estimated as 700 light years and true size as 2,5 light years.

Although technically visible from Poland, it never goes high enough above horizon, hence the image was included in the "southern sky" gallery.
