Bad Parenting

I knew these Canada Geese were along this road because for years they have laid their eggs nearby. As you can see they are walking towards me. This is because it's obvious to me that well intentioned people have been stopping and dropping off food (with little goose nutritional value). Now they have no fear of vehicles and I have no doubt that there were more goslings earlier that didn't make it because of this behavior. Obviously momma goose is setting a bad example for her babies by her lack of good parenting skills.

I do wish people would understand that feeding wild creatures is not a good thing to do.

Since there are 3 goslings it counts towards my Three gallery :-)

Lovely capture although as you said, a large number of goslings are missing..

I've seen duck "crossing ahead" signs, they need a geese crossing sign..I like this shot very nice!

I hope these cuties and their parents survive the summer without harm, but at the rate their going (to be "trained" so early) I'd say the percentage is fairly low. Why people interfere with wildlife is beyond me....thanks for the reminder.

Sort of wish people could be trained as easily as the animals. Great shot though and hope they make it to be smarter than their parents; (and the humans.)

Thank you for the public service message. I totally agree with you and wish people would realize that their good intentions are probably doing more harm than good.

Very nice shot as well.
