Lock Them All Out!

Midnight tonight is supposed to by a deadline for the NFL owners and players to reach an agreement so football in the USA can continue. I love football but right now I say lock them all out as I think both sides are greedy. Players sign legal contracts and then want to change it after they have a good year or they hold out. Owners want us taxpayers to keep giving them more for new stadiums. And this player union business - I don't understand how right now the players belong to the union but they can decertify today before the agreement expires, then sue the owners as individuals and after they can reform the union. How does that work? If a non top ten quarterback like Carson Palmer, who's been in the NFL for only 9 years, can reportedly say trade me or I'll retire because "I have $80 Million in the bank right now", do they really need more money? Haven't they read about the state of the US economy lately and how many people have been laid off while they were making millions?
My opinion: It's a business. The owners own the business and make the rules. If you don't like the rules then take your college degree and go earn that kind of money in the real world. Good luck with that!
PS Added March 4, 2011: The big item is revenue sharing and I just found out that the owners get the first $1 Billion and then the players get 60% of everything after that. How can that be "unfair" to the players?

I agree no player is worth what they are paid...
And the owners are just as bad in their own right...

LOL.. I thought you were getting kinky! Yup, most pro players of all leagues are on the greedy side, I understand that they can get hurt and not be able to earn more but maybe a cap is in order, but of course, that is not the capitalistic way! Nice idea Patti!

I stopped following football 30 years ago for most of the reasons you stated, plus I'm just too busy to spend my time watching the games on TV.
