Gone!

Yesterday I heard on the local evening news that the ice jam on the river (see my images from Feb 23 and 24) had broken up and the river was clear (well let's say free of the ice jam - the water is hardly clear) again. I was surprised since we really did not have that much warm weather the past couple of days.
I went down there this afternoon in spite of the cold and wind thanks to a cold front that moved through earlier today. There was a little debris floating down the river in spots (common this time of year when trees along the river banks fall over from storms and loss of solid ground) but basically it's all open again.

What a rapid change. Amazing that there was no damage or flooding.

Maybe Winter will float down the river! Nice composition!

That's weird as the same thing happened here, the ice has broken up and is a good 1/4 mile down stream then just two days ago! I see a lot of the snow is gone also, Spring is just around the corner!

Wow, what a change! Still looks very cold! Nice scene. Gives a better feel for the size.

Where did it go…? Amazing how a little turn in the weather can change so much of what we see.
