"De Groenvelder" is a polder mill from 1571 with an oak back. The mill drained the Valkkoog polder, a drainage area of approximately 497 hectares. Within this polder was the Westerendspolder, which had its own drainage system. In the first half of the 20th century, a wind motor was used to drain the southern part of the polder, but this wind motor disappeared as a result of land consolidation. Today, the mill is still regularly used for the drainage of the polder, together with an electric screw pump.
