Alabama Hills, Near Long Pine California. This location served as a background to hundreds of movies, since the 1920's.
Lone Pine peak and the Sierra mountains are in the background.
It was and still is a major location for adventure movies , mostly westerns. Even if you are not a film buff, you will still enjoy visiting the place.
Alabama Hills was named by gold prospectors sympathetic to the Confederate cause during the Civil War.
It was named after the C.S.S Alabama. A sails/steamer boat. The Alabama was eventually sunk by a Northern steam sailer battleship Kearsage in 1864.
But the name still remains. These Images were taken in one morning visit. Definitely worth revisiting!
