11-MAY-2005 30 days to go

05/11/05

This is the Dutchman's Pipe Vine, which is the larval plant for the
Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly....that is why I planted it. It was
supposed to get 20 ft. tall....I've had it three years and it has
grown no more than a foot tall. However, it does have an interesting
flower with a bad odor. Also, I've never found a caterpillar on it!
By the way, I hope to come up with something besides a macro tomorrow.

I'm searching to find this plant for a long time but can't find it here but I didn't know they had flowers. Very beautiful shot

How very cool....I agree with the others, you do a super job of shooting macros and they're always of such interesting plants, and/or critters.

Since I love macro shots...yours especially because your sooooo good at it Petesie, don't stop whatever you do. You know this may do a Jack's beanstalk one night and....

Don't apologize for doing macros! It's like reading a nature book...it's great! Well done!

That's a wild looking plant! Wonderful macro Petesie! Love the octopus-like 'tentacles'!

Great macro, again, Petesie. The botanical garden fertilizes theirs with chicken manure--you can get it at the Feed Store, I guess, in bags, sterilized.
