The name Panyu dated back to Qin Dynasty in 214 BC, referring to the entire region. It is now the name of a district of Guangzhou.
We visited Baomo Garden (寶墨園), which started in early 19th century as a temple honoring Judge Bao Zheng (包拯). It was destroyed in the 1950’s. Reconstruction started in 1995 resulted in a much larger garden featuring ceramic carving and calligraphy.
