Here we show some places close to our new house which offer great alpine hiking. Our new home has this thing going for it: you can have a snowball fight every day of the year (short drive in a car and possibly some mountain hiking required). The close by Indian Peaks or the mountain ranges crossing RMNP are all part of the Continental Divide (rivers west from the divide end up in Pacific, east of the divide in Atlantic).

We love the alpine tundra environment. Around here the tree line is somewhere around 11500 ft. There are few places in close proximity which allow you to drive up pass that elevation threshold in the car and many others where the road stops short of 11 500ft and some hiking is required.

[PL] Wysokie okolice. Rzucanie sniezkami jest tu mozliwe kazdego dnia roku (zakadajac krotka przejadzke samochode i pewnie krotki spacer). Granica drzew w tych okolicach jest gdzies na wysokosci 3500m. Powyzej tej granicy roztacza sie niezywkle ciekawa strefa zwana alpejska tundra. Dotarcie do tej strefy wymaga typowo sporej ilosci piechocinca. Ta regula ma pare wyjatkow: sa 2 miejsca w okolicy naszego domu gdzie granice drzew mozna przekroczyc nie wysiadajac z samochodu. Okoliczne gory naleza to tzw Continental Divide: rzeki po wschodniej stronie trafiaja do Atlantyku, po zachodnie do Pacyfiku. Zdjecia pokazuja okolice naszego nowego domu wysoko, wysoko w gorach.
