Lake Isabelle
Indian Peaks Wilderness is very close – about 1 hour drive from our house and the snow covered Indian Peaks are clearly visible from where we live.
Glacier Isabelle (one of the Indian Peaks glaciers) is probably one of the closest glaciers from our house.
Lake Isabelle is right below the glacier (created by melting glacial snow) and is a 2 mile one way hike (that is if you can park your car at the trail head, which is almost impossible. A more realistic assumption is for 3 mile one way hike).
The trail is very, very busy, lots of people on it (even during weekdays) and dogs are allowed on the trail. We think this is one of the reasons why we had no luck spotting any critters, no squirrels, no marmots, very few birds.
So we are not very impressed with Indian Peaks Wilderness hiking.
It is however, Iza’s namesake glacier and lake so it deserves its due attention.

Jezioro Isabelle
Indian Peaks Wilderness jest czescia systemu Parkow Narodowych. Dojazd do parku zamuje okolo godziny samochodem. Indian Peaks to nazwa pasma gorskiego (to pasmo jest widoczne z naszego osiedla). Lodowiec Isabelle jest chyba najblizszym lodowcem od naszego domu.
Jezioro Isabelle (powstale z topniejacego lodowieca) wymaga 3km spaceru (w jedna strone) zakadajac ze sie uda zaparkowac samochod przy wejsciu na szlak. Nam sie to jeszcze nie udalo (czyli trzeba sie liczyc z 5km w jedna strone).
Szlak jest raczej przepelniony, spacer z psem na smyczy jest dozwolony co jest prawdopodonie przyczyna ze szlak zrobil na nas wrazenie wymarlego (ani wiewiorki, ani swistaka, malo ptakow).
