Hey Patrick (Vixyswillie)! Sorry about not describing what the picture was of! You're right. It's a runaway lane for mopeds who's brakes have burned out! ;) Actually, the area on the right is the LA River. It's a big man-made river to get water out of the city when it rains a lot. The walkway is for pedestrians and bicyclers to walk along for exercise, or just to go for a walk. This is where the 710 and 105 freeways pass, so there are on-ramps, and off-ramps crisscrossing at this point also.

Like the composition of this and the overpasses in both the foreground and background. Also like it cuz I have no freakin' idea what the heck this is! A sidewalk along the freeway?! A motorcycle express lane??! A runaway lane for mopeds whose brakes have burned out??!!
