IMAGEination #8, October 14, 2012

I do "straight" photography - that is, the photo that you see looks very like the subject matter did at the time I captured the image. But the camera and the human eye don't always see things exactly the same way. So I almost always work in Photoshop to tweak the image so it looks more like what I saw at the time. There are times when I may convert the image into monochrome (black & white, or sepia) especially with architecture or street photography because it better fits the image.

I very rarely wander off into the realm of digital special effects. But this particular iPhone grabshot had some interesting elements but basically failed as a straight image.

There are many Iphone/iPad apps for photography, but the one I have been using the most is Snapseed by Nik Software (recently bought by Google). After playing around a bit with filter effects I came up with this final result.
