This was the second year of this local festival. The excuse is a temple to a sea god, which was relocated here from somewhere else about 60 years ago. The festival is a bunch of street stalls, and an opportunity for local talent to manifest itself in various performances, including lion dance and dragon dance. Personally I find the majority of the staged performances unexciting - maybe you have to be a performaer's grandparent to really enjoy some of them - but I like watching the spectators. And there are some "professional" performances as well.
At the start there are speeches (which probably would have bored me even if I spoke enough Cantonese to follow what they were saying), then there's a sort of parade. After that I left, but there were 3 more scheduled lion & dragon dances later in the day, and ongoing performances of other kinds.
