Wow, "Guest" comment has it right... Yes, the mailboxes were there and that door to the right was indeed a dentist office in the 70's -- and yes, someone did pass away on that side. I remember all that because that happened during my time in this building. Hmm, maybe I was one of your friends. I have a frind who lived on that side whose dad owned the Grocery store on the corner.

I was on the second floor, up this set of stairs (B-3)

original mailboxes were where the fluorescent light fixture is now. You can just make out the shadow of an apartment door to the right of the light--that was a dentist's office. There were 2 other apartment doors off to the right. I remember an elderly man died in one and it was the foul odor that led to him being discovered. Worst smell I've ever experienced, and had to go right past it to use the stairs. Being a kid, sympathy not high priority!

I can't remember if my friends lived up the first or second staircase. I probably had friends on both sides
