Camera: Olympus C7070
Imaging Software: Adobe Photoshop Elements, Olympus Camedia, Olympus Master, Paint Shop Pro 7, Microsoft Picture It.
Favorite shooting subjects: - easier to say I like shooting everything in sight, especially children, wildlife, horses and cowboys with a strong emphasis on chuckwagon racing.
Advice to newbies: I'm a newbie but I have learned to ask questions, post pictures, even if they aren't the best and play an active part in the forum. The folks on this forum have way too much fun and I wanted in on the action. Remember, a camera sitting on a desk is a useless camera.

Camera Model(s): E-100RS, B-300, C-210, Remote cable release, Manfrotto/Bogen: 055PRO/3021 Pro Tripod, Automatic Monopod, 329/3410 3-way head, 308RC Ball head, Lowepro Photo Trekker Classic backpack (Soon: E-20, Wcon08B, DPS 9000 battery pack, Metz 54 MZ-3 Flash, 1Gig Microdrive, Tamrac 613 Pro Photobag)
Image Software: Photoshop 7, Irfanview, Neatimage
Advice for a newbie: Never be afraid to ask a question in the forum no matter how stupid it may seem. We’ve all been there. Get a good monopod and a decent ball head (preferably with quick release) to take anywhere. It makes a world of difference when shooting in low light or at long zoom. In my case I’m a leftie so it may be the other way round for you. Support the foot of the monopod with your right foot placed in front of you. The monopod should be at an angle of about 30 degrees. Push your right knee towards the monopod and balance it the other way by having a fairly tight grip around the camera with your left hand. If your camera has a fixed extending lens you’ll want to get a grip around the lens barrel with your thumb facing left. You’ll now have the second best support next to a tripod. Advice for a newbie: Compose your picture when you are taking the picture rather than trying to fix the picture later on the computer (ie, stop and think about the shot, don't just click the shutter). Favourite Shooting Topic: It's mostly scenics and nature photoography that I seek out, but I like to shoot everything.

Camera: SP570UZ. I'm not one of these lucky people who have more than one camera at a time.

Advice to Newbies: Know your camera. Understand every button and menu selection on it. If the manual doesn't help, then search the forum and ask the questions. Shoot every kind of subject imaginable under different conditions. Get a tripod and shoot your scenics in early morning and late evening. Look at great photographs and understand what made them great

Camera Model(s) & Stuff: Olympus C-2100UZ; A-200; FL-40 Flash
Image Software: Photoshop 7; Image Expert by Sierra
Advice for a newbie: Use a tripod... especially in low light. A tripod will make your photos much sharper. It also allows you to stand back and look at the composition...did I frame the shot the way I really wanted too? Am I chopping off part of the scene? It allows you to get the whole picture before hitting the button. (advice I got from yp and have taken to heart.)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area

Hobbies: Travel, art, computers (graphics and multimedia), wine & food, and learning new things.

Favorite Photographic Subjects: Anything and everything that is eye-catching or soul stirring or wonderful in the light.

Cameras: Oly gear is a C-8080WZ with the FL-40 flash and two old, beat up but terrific small D-490Zs. Mostly a history with Nikon 35mm gear with a couple Mamiya's thrown in (both 35mm and 2-1/4 square format). Will eventually go dSLR but haven't found just the right camera yet for that kind of cash outlay!

Advice to Newbies: Develop a sense of what you're taking a picture of and why, and then take the picture! Your eye will continue to evolve. Use your computer to find the best crops (you might be surprised how many good images can come out of tossers. Experiment! Have fun!
