On Wednesday morning, after a couple of nights in the one-stoplight town of Lone Pine, enjoying the comforts of plumbing, beds, and food that didn't come out of baggies, the group split into two. The Y-chromosome group would climb in the Palisades, and the Y-chromosome-free group would make their attempt on Mount Whitney.
