We made it to the summit after about 4 hours of hiking and 2000 ft. of elevation gain from Trail Camp. When Sandy told Cynthia at the beginning of the trek up the Whitney trail that she was doing it out of sheer stubbornness, Cynthia replied that she thought Sandy was "sometimes more stubborn than smart, but if you want to do this, I'll go with you." However, it was Cynthia who told Sandy, "If we make it up the 99 Switchbacks, we're getting to the top of Whitney if we have to crawl there on our hands and knees." We didn't have to crawl, but it sure was a long 5 miles to the summit!
