The Hoodoos by Don

These strange mushroom like formations are formed by water and wind erosion. These pillars have been thousands of years in the making .
Topped by protective capstones these sandstone pillars are very fragile and erode very quickly once the capstone falls off as you can see the difference.

This reminds me of Cappadocie in Turkey. The rock formations there are taller but they were made the same way. This picture not only shows a rock formation but you can also see how it was made. One pillar with, and one without its capstone, all the markings and layers, its great.

Don just let me know these beautiful formations are in the Badlands of Alberta Canada. These are really very interesting to see Don. The information you provided about how they form and pointing out the errosion of the capless formations is really something. Great contribution Don, I really like the detail that shows in both the forground and background giving this a niced depth to it!
