The female is seen here sitting on the nest; note the rusty over tones on her back. Both male and female brood the eggs. You can tell, when one of a pair flies up, if it is going to take up setting duties as they will alternately run one leg down the other to clean the mud off. They will even do this cleaning while in flight and will shake their legs repeatedly after they land. If they do not do this, then they are just checking in with the spouse and will not attemp a change at the nest.
