I'm sure that the competition on the last day of sailing was well intended. It followed the several days of the championship series. The purpose of this event obviously was getting everybody out to sail together. It was a disaster, if not outright dangerous. If the intent was to get those who do not compete interested in competing, the management of this event not only did not accomplish this but it probably discouraged those folks from ever entering another competition in their lifetimes. Otherwise Newport was well run.
