I've had the pleasure of spending several years working in old growth Douglas-fir forests in central British Columbia for my doctoral research. I am a disturbance ecologist, which means I study the things that kill trees, why some survive while others die, and what happens as a result. Most of the photos are documentary-type, not fine art, and I've selected my favorites based mostly on ecological interest.
