A moment ago, I stepped outside to retrieve our mail and this breath-taking bird swooped past my face as I passed the area of our yard near our bird feeders.

In all of my 70 years, I have never seen a bird like this in our area (SW PENNSYLVANIA, PITTSBURGH). We have gorgeous Cardinals and Blue Jays all year but, this bird was so very unique in it's coloring and beauty.

Of course, I just had to Google it and find out what kind of bird it was...and, the moment I saw the first photo of the Indigo Bunting, I saw the bird that just swooped past my face in the yard!

What a beauty! I'm going back outside to see if he is stil around and try to capture a pic of him!

I believe this is the bird that comes to visit here in central Florida. We have never seen it before and have a couple now who have been frequenting the feeders for a month or so. Thanks for the help.. Red Burdett

My cat just caught this same bird in Anderson, Indiana. Didn't get it in time. It died in my hand.

I live in the middle of Nebraska and was so surprised to see a pair of Indigo Buntings in my yard. They add such a beautiful color to our red and yellow finches, cardinals and orioles. Thanks for the great picture!!

I was greatly surprised this morning when I spotted at least 10 Indigo Bunting at my feeders in my back yard flower garden. Throughout the day they kept coming back. I purchased extra birdseed and mealy worms. They kept coming back and I tried to get a photo of them but they were very skittish. I am surprised that they were here in the city of Shawano. I hope to keep an eye out for them in the days to come.

I have seen these Indigo buntings in Alabama, but not this year. They seem to come through this area of north alabama in the early spring, but this past year the weather has changed dramatically, so, now, I guess maybe they moved by here in another direction. All I know, they are the most beautiful birds to come through here! along with the yellow finches that is. They must be going'north'? because I never see them long.

Hi, My sister, Donna Kay from PA gave me your website address. She said you had sent her a photo of a blue jay. Your photos are fabulous! I am a bird lover myself...your Indigo Bunting is wonderful!I have many cardinals in my yard. They look so great against a snow tipped pine tree. Barbara on Cape Cod
