Another jaunt up 'the Mountain'. This was my haven in my teenage years, a place where I could go and recoup whatever I needed to recoup. It is still there, but 'they' want to put a cable-car up the eastern side. This has been an aim for some years, and 'they' keep pushing. Once they achieve that, I can see the road being degraded and we will all have to pay to go up, a prospect which appalls me - but I've seen the process elsewhere. In the meantime, periodically, I will make forays up there, with successful photos and unsuccessful alike, and some lesser ones being posted nevertheless, because they give a feel which I want to portray. This is one of my heart's homes. I actually have quite a few, but this is the core one. The Mountain is dolerite, a grey rock with a highish iron content, so that it weathers into beautiful rounded orange-ochre, rust-coloured boulders. Up the top, mist and rain create small bogs which coalesce to become ponds which then fall away to the south-west to end up as the Wellington Falls then joining the sea near the small town of Margate. I'll upload other parts of the Mountain as they are taken.
