There are many ways to walk up Mt Wellington. When one takes the track from Fern Tree, the first stop is at the Springs - the site of the old Springs Hotel ( 'hotel' although it didn't serve alcohol) which burnt down in the 1967 bush fires which roared across southern Tasmania. From the Springs, before the cliffs called the Organ Pipes, the track leads up the back of the cliffs. It is steep and the track has to go back and forth, hence the name 'zig-zag'. There are hints of the track in this shot. In the background is the city of Hobart.
