Glass UFO by Mike Parsons

Actually an upturned halogen bulb with glass reflector lit from below by another bulb.

Here's an updated version with the highlights toned down and cropped, and the WB shifted.

Great idea Mike, 'fraid I knew what it was immediately.

I think with a brighter light the purples and reds would have possibly come out more.
An adjustment to the white balance might also help, referenced to the 'whitest' part of the image, i.e. under the lamp at the bottom of the image.

This is well done Mike! I like the colors and patterns. The Yellow along the bottom could be toned down in brightness IMHO.. The top of the image being somewhat abstract to the rest adds needed perspective.. Nice.

mike, this to me has potential to be really good. but it just lacks something at the moment. the detail and texture isn't interesting enough to carry the very static composition. i'm not saying it's a bad shot, or anything but i wouldn't vote for it... yet. i really feel embarassed making criticisms of others work 'cos i'm such a noob, but i suppose we're eventually going to vote so it seems fair to say now, well ahead of time, our views. especially when this is is something you've set up at home and can play with.
