Ladies Tools by Peter Thorup

Since most of the Tools depicted are inherently masculine I thought a bit of change would be good, so here are some of the tools of the opposite sex.

I like this version much better. You have a really nice mix of colors here, and the lighting works very well. -Ord

Peter, this is much better, except I think you had the top of the lipstick in the reflection last time, which was good. Interesting choice to use the left side of the 'CD' lid as your point of vertical reference when rotating (unless that was how you shot and you didn't rotate at all). If I wasn't going to correct the perspective, I might have chosen the main lipstick to be vertical instead to emphasise it as the subject. However, the slight slant adds a point of interest. The lighting/exposure seems to look better this time around as well. Good effort.

Great advice John, Thanks. As you can see I have reshot the image. It was taken on tripod and selftimer but the distance and zoom and autofocus were the reason for the missing sharpness. This is closer to the subject = less zoom, more narrow aperture and manually focused.
About the paraphernalia - no it's Mariannes - I think I'm to old to become a "Metro male" a la Beckham ;o)
Cheers Peter

Peter, not yours then? ;^)
Good subject with good colous, lighting and composition. However, what distracts me is some of the less clear parts of this image. The OOF nature of the reflection in the mirror is good and the reflection concept as a whole is great, but the OOF 202 fluid bottle and Dior pad don't look quite right, and even the subject lipstick at the front seems a bit soft. If you didn't use a tripod, then using one would have helped. If you did, then I think a narrower aperture for greater DOF might have been useful, along with being very careful with pressing the shutter release button, or using a remote shutter relase cable. I got a couple relatively recently and I use them extensively now; they're real life-savers to complement my 7D's AS.
